Bernardo Sorj

Retired professor of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Currently, he is the Director of the Edelstein Center for Social Research. He is also author of 30 books and over a hundred scholarly articles in various areas of social sciences: Sociology of Intellectuals, Consumption, Democracy, Civil Society, Latin America, Rural Sociology, Information Society and International Relations.

 

 

 

 

Fernando Altemeyer Jr.

Assistant Professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo and member of the Department of Religious Sciences (Faculty of Social Sciences). He has also experience in Theology and Religious Studies. He has written articles for magazines and journals on Theology and Religion.

 

 

 

Murilo Sebe Bom Meihy

Has Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in History from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, MA in Social History of Culture from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, master's degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies from the Autonomous University of Madrid, and a PhD in Arab Studies from University of Sao Paulo. He is currently Adjunct Professor of Contemporary History at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

 

 

 

Peter Demant

Historian and Professor of International Relations, he is a specialist in Middle East and Islam-West relations. He has a Master’s and a Doctorate in Modern and Contemporary History from the University of Amsterdam. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of the Department of History at the Sao Paulo University. He also teaches at the Institute of International Relations (IRI-USP) and researches about Middle East, Islam and Islamism, Israel-Palestine conflict and the Western hegemony.

 

 

 

Roberto Chiachiri

Doctor and Master in Communication and Semiotics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, he is currently Deputy Director and Professor at the School of Social Communication Casper Libero. He is also professor of Psychoanalytic Semiotics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo. In addition, he is a member of the Brazilian Executive Committee of the International Association for Semiotic Studies/Association Internationale de Sémiotique.
